The Rapid Action Unit Forces (FURA) reported this Saturday the seizure of cocaine – whose estimated value is 1.8 million dollars – in a maritime operation carried out off the coast of Manatí, in the north of Puerto Rico.
The agents found 110 packages of cocaine inside a 20-foot-long yola-type boat with a 60-horsepower Yamaha engine, according to the police statement.
The vessel was spotted last night by the San Juan Air Unit crew in the N139PD helicopter as it headed towards the coast of the Palma de Manatí sector.
Ground personnel from the Arecibo and Vega Baja maritime units and the Manatí Municipal Police, among others, also participated in the operation.
The seized cocaine was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
The United Forces Action Bureau closed the year 2021 with the seizure on the island of 19,574 kilos of cocaine with an approximate value of 500 million dollars.
