Since last Wednesday (24), the city of São Paulo has received the third edition of COB Expo, considered the largest Olympic Sports Fair in Latin America. The conference, organized by the Brazil Olympic Committee (COB), is held until next Sunday (28) and is expected to receive more than 72,000 people in the Pro Magno Event Center, in the Casa Verde neighborhood, east of São Paulo.
The exhibition brings together booths of confederations, simulators and arenas for experimentation, such as surfing, table tennis and lacross (one of the news of the Los Angeles Olympics in the United States in 2028). The program has courses, clinics and plenary stores with personalities of Brazilian and world sport. On Wednesday, the highlight of the former American vegetable carl Lewis, owner of nine gold and one silver medals in four editions of the games and elected the twentieth-century athlete for the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
At the time, Lewis received a tribute from Maurren Maggi, the first Brazilian Olympic Champion in Individual Sports (thanks to the Gold in the Distance Leap at Beijing Games, China, in 2008). She handed the former athlete a signature ball from other medalists in the country, such as former girl Arthur Zanetti, former judoka Rafael Silva and former volleyball scorers Erika Coimbra.
“He [Lewis] It is an inspiration for all athletes, not only athletics, but of sport in general. His career shows that dedication and excellence can transform generations, ”said Maureen.
This Thursday (25) it was the turn of Cuban Mijaín López, five-time Olympic champion of the Greco-Roman struggle, to participate in an interaction with baby. The two talked to young people from the Olympic Center and the Olympic Network, training programs and high performance of the state capital.
“It is very special to be back in Brazil, where I won my third Olympic championship, in Rio 2016. And still being sharing this moment with so many young people, guiding them and meeting them,” said López, in testimony to the COB website.
“It is very important to have this exchange with young athletes, talk about the performance of a multi -champion Olympic champion and convey some of the Olympic values to this kids who are just starting,” Baby added to the committee page.
Other attractions of this Thursday were the presence of world champions Caio Bonfim, the Athletic March, and Yago Dora, Surfing. On Wednesday night, Caio was applauded standing during the opening ceremony of the event, as well as Rebeca Lima, gold medalist at the Liverpool Boxing World Championship in the United Kingdom.
“The future of Brazilian sport goes through the Expo Cob, the lasting partnerships and the values shared by so many and so many that make the Olympic movement of Brazil happen. COB EXPO is a fundamental pillar for the construction of a sports nation, where we want to take the sport beyond the medal,” summarized COB President Marco La Porta, in a speech at the ceremony.
