Coalition ‘Vamos’ presents 108 independent candidates who renounce the electoral criminal jurisdiction

This Monday morning, the “Vamos” Coalition, led by independent deputies Juan Diego Vásquez and Gabriel Silva, presented 108 candidates for free candidacy at the headquarters of the Electoral Court (TE) who aspire to positions as deputies, representatives of districts and mayors.

“We bring 108 truly independent candidates, who come to do good politics, to change the way of seeing things, to put the interests of the country above their personal interests, and who come as a team today to renounce electoral criminal jurisdiction” Vasquez noted.

According to deputy Vásquez, the figure of free candidacy has wanted to be discredited and distorted by some people, “although the law allows it, to aspire to different positions by free candidacy within their political parties, those who are here , these brave people who are putting their name and their chest, are not only people who come to work for the good of the country, they have signed an ethical commitment such as the resignation of the electoral criminal jurisdiction, which should not exist “.

More than 400 people presented their applications to be part of the “Vamos” Coalition, of which only 108 remained. “This group that has remained is because they have clear ideas, not because I like them or they are my friends, they present today to the country a declaration of conflict of interest without even being official candidates for the positions,” said Vásquez.

For his part, Deputy Silva stressed that an academy has been created where candidates will be trained in security, economic, tax and health issues. This, so that when they come to hold public office they are prepared and “don’t come to improvise.”
