The United for Colón Coalition appeared on Wednesday morning to the acts of the National Symbols Day in the province, and they stationed themselves next to the Mausoleum as a protest against the lack of response from the authorities to solve the problems of said city .
Román Macías, leader of the group, assured that they are prepared for the meeting with the president, Laurentino Cortizo, this Friday, November 5.
Meanwhile, the Governor of the province, Irasema de Dale, confirmed that the meeting will be held in a hotel in the city of Colón, and remains awaiting the list of the 20 members of the Coalition, who will participate in the meeting with the mandatary.
For his part, Cortizo confirmed his presence for this meeting. “As I have always done, this is an open door president, the times that I have had to meet and talk with people I do it, there is nothing more important than being able to talk with people,” he said.
The president stated that he received many abandoned projects from past administrations; However, he affirmed that progress has been made in certain works such as the City of Health, the Children’s Hospital, the Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital in Colón; Regarding the latter, he assured that by the end of the year the problems related to its infrastructure would have been resolved. “We received more than 1000 projects with problems, many that were abandoned, others with legal problems, but we have been solving them,” he said.
A few weeks ago, the United for Colón Coalition protested for three days, demanding the construction of a new hospital, a transportation terminal, improvements in the drinking water supply and more jobs. They also request the construction of sports arenas, a house of culture, improvements in the educational system and roads.
