The Board of Directors of the National Council of Export Free Zones (CNZFE) approved the establishment of 17 new free zone companies, which will boost the creation of 2,640 direct jobs.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), Víctor-Ito-Bisonó, who stated that these new companies have projected an investment of more than USD 61.41 million, which promises a significant impact on the national economy.
For his part, the executive director of CNZFE, Daniel Liranzo, reported that the new companies will be dedicated to various productive activities, including the sterilization of medical devices, assembly of electronic components, call center services, software development, manufacturing of lighting fixtures, tobacco processing, among others.
During the meeting, the permit for the installation of two new industrial parks was also approved, which will be located in the provinces of Santo Domingo and Santiago, respectively, with an estimated investment of USD 31,213 million. With the implementation of these projects, it is expected that 3,424 direct jobs will be generated, thus contributing to the economic development of the country.
Provinces
Among the provinces that will host these new investments are Santo Domingo, Santiago, San Pedro de Macorís and La Romana.
So far this year, the CNZFE has approved a total of 52 companies and 7 free zone parks, with an estimated investment of USD 196 million, figures that reflect the firm commitment of the government of President Luis Abinader to increase the competitiveness and continued growth of the free zone sector for the progress of the nation.
