The confrontation intensified after it became known that three members of the CNTE who were participating in the protest had been arrested, including the general secretary of Section XVIII, Gamaliel Guzmán Cruz.
After a couple of hours, the magisterial leader was released, although it is unknown if the other two people detained with him were also released.
After these events, the leadership of the CNTE agreed to set up their sit-in in the Historic Center of Morelia, as well as to maintain demonstrations in the state capital until their demands are resolved.
