SANTO DOMINGO.- The National Social Security Council (CNSS)approved the shortlist of candidates to occupy the Superintendency of Pensions (SIPEN) which will be forwarded to the Executive Branch.
The governing body of the Dominican Social Security System (SDSS) through resolution No. 558-01, establishes that said list is made up of Francisco Alberto Torres Díaz, Jeffrey Lizardo and Juan Carlos Jiménez.
Article 109 of Law 87-01 establishes that the Superintendent of Pensions will be appointed by decree of the Executive Power, who in any case will have the final decision, from a shortlist submitted by the CNSS.
In accordance with article 71 of the Internal Regulations of the CNSS, each sector represented in the National Social Security Council may submit a candidate for the consideration of the plenary to occupy the position of superintendent who will be elected by the majority of the votes, as long as they have the statutory quorum.
The Council, in compliance with article 22 of Law 87-01, which creates the Dominican Social Security System, submits to the Executive Power the candidates to occupy said position.
The SIPEN has the function of ensuring strict compliance with Law 87-01 and its complementary regulations, of protecting the interests of affiliates, of monitoring the financial solvency of the Pension Fund Administrators (AFP) and of contributing to strengthening the Dominican Pension System.
