The CNP recalled that the journalists who were released from prison have precautionary measures and do not enjoy full freedom
The general secretary of the National College of Journalists (CNP) Caracas section, Edgar Cárdenas, demanded that the authorities release nine social communicators and press workers who are arbitrarily detained by the authorities this Friday, December 27.
Cárdenas, after a mass celebrated at the CNP headquarters, recalled that in recent days a group of six people from the union, including journalists, photographers, cameramen and others who practice the trade, who have precautionary measures, were released; so they do not enjoy full freedom.
He recalled that journalists such as Carlos Julio Rojas, Biagio Pilieri, Roland Carreño and Víctor Ugas are still behind bars. In the case of the latter, he emphasized that he is still arbitrarily detained due to the “relationships” that the TikToker with whom he had an altercation has; which even affects the fact that a case, which was classified as a “quarrel”, is now treated with a 30-year sentence “almost as if it were a homicide.”

According to the CNP, those who are arbitrarily detained are: Biagio Pilieri, Fernando Chuecos, José Camero, Roland Carreño, Víctor Ugas, Gabriel González, Carlos Julio Rojas, Luis López and Ramón Centeno; while journalists Omar González and Claudia Macero, linked to Vente Venezuela, are sheltered in the Argentine Embassy in Caracas.
