CNM meeting will be at 5:00 in the afternoon this Friday

The members of the National Magistracy Council (CNM) will meet today at 5:00 in the afternoon to decide on the interviews conducted yesterday, within the framework of the performance evaluations of the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice Pilar Jiménez Ortiz, Manuel Alexis Read Ortiz and Moisés Ferrer Landrón.

He Constitutional Courtin Judgment TC/0270/20, he warned that any CNM decision must be objective and transparent. If a judge is not ratified, that decision must be motivated and supported by clear reasons, in compliance with article 181 of the Constitution.

Pilar Jiménez Ortiz: The judge who updated the First Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice
Designated Judge of the SCJ in July 2017, Pilar Jiménez Ortiz assumed in 2019 the presidency of the First Chamber, specialized in civil and commercial matters. He faced a historical delay of 11,654 files, some with pending audiences since 1992, and managed to eliminate that cluster. Between 2019 and August 2025, the Chamber issued 24,707 cassation decisions, an institutional record.

Jiménez Ortiz is a doctor in Law from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) 1986, with multiple postgraduate and masters in Civil, Business, Administrative and Constitutional Procedural Law in universities of the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and Spain. She has been a judge of peace, first instance, president of civil chambers and judge of the Superior Land Court.

She is currently Ibero -American Commissioner for Judicial Ethics, a position from which she has issued opinions on performance and integrity of judges in the region. He also exercises teaching at the National School of the Judiciary and in the Pontifical Catholic University Mother and Master (PUCMM).

Manuel Alexis Read Ortiz: “Long judicial experience and recognized doctrinal authority”

Appointed judge of the Supreme Court in 2017, Manuel Alexis Read Ortiz was chosen in 2019 President of the Third Chamber, who knows land issues, labor, tax and administrative contentious. Under its leadership, the Chamber solved a historical cluster of civil and commercial cases, including pending files since 1984. In 2019 it had 5,004 files under its competence; Between 2019 and 2025 he issued 15,808 cassation sentences.

Doctor of Law from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), Read Ortiz is over 30 years in the Judiciary. He has completed specialized studies in Costa Rica, the National School of Judicial and Spanish Universities. He has chaired Civil Salas, Courts of Appeal and the Superior Land Court.

It is also a prolific doctrinal. Among his works include the means of inadmissibility in the Dominican civil process (two volumes), the disabilities in civil law (two volumes), and of the referral and other issues, in addition to studies co -written on civil jurisprudence.

Moisés Ferrer Landrón: “A successful leap from the Public Ministry to the Judiciary”

Designated to the Supreme Court in 2017, Moisés Ferrer Landrón currently integrates the third room. He has been a speaker at more than 450 decision projects and has stood out as a special instruction judge in high public sensitivity processes. He represented the Judiciary at the World Bank Land Conference (Washington, 2025) and at the Judicial Power Conference (Santo Domingo, 2024).

Bachelor of Law from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), Ferrer Landrón has completed extensive training in Spain and the Dominican Republic: Masters in electoral political studies (PUCMM – University of Granada), Administrative Law and Municipal Management (UCLM), and Constitutional Law and Public Law (UCLM). It has also completed specialties in constitutional justice, administrative law, civil procedure, criminal law and criminal procedural, among others.
