The Corregedoria Nacional de Justiça, body of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), will investigate the judicial organization in Roraima, especially in the 4th Federal Court. According to the CNJ, the decision was taken due to problems detected in the judicial provision of the Judiciary Section of Federal Justice in Roraima, including legal proceedings regarding illegal mining and the protection of the Yanomami Indigenous Land.
“According to the decision, which initiated a request for measures, there is strong national and international attention involving the Yanomami, which reinforces the need to face the health crisis covering the indigenous population and the repression of illegal mining in the region, which has been generating severe environmental damage and possible crimes against humanity”, pointed out the council.
In the decision, the National Justice Inspector, Minister Luis Felipe Salomão, highlighted that the section received a higher number of cases than other units of the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF1) and that the situation had already been observed previously by responsible magistrates.
“There was even a request for a substitute federal judge to contribute to the analysis of the cases. As a result, the high demand caused a disproportionate increase in the workload of the entire judicial service, directly impacting the quality and efficiency of judicial provision,” said the CNJ.
With the decision, the 4th Federal Court of the Judiciary Section of Roraima will have a period of 5 days to inform the performance, the capacity and the number of servers and judges, in addition to the distribution of cases for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023.
The presidency of TRF1 must also provide information, within 48 hours, on requests for measures and administrative processes involving the 4th Federal Court of the Judiciary Section of Roraima, in addition to indicating whether an action plan has already been implemented and the opening of a public notice, indicating number of interested judges to fill the position of substitute federal judge.
