This Wednesday, a technical commission was installed in view of the possibility of the participation of the National Electoral Council (CNE) in the primaries that the opposition next October.
In statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, the president of the opposition National Commission for Primaries, Jesús María Casal, highlighted the confidence and security in the event that they will hold with the CNE “as a body provided for in the Constitution.”
The commission is made up of members Ismael Pérez Vigil and Roberto Abdul, as well as technicians Miguel Cañas and Francisco Castro.
Casal stressed that they will continue with the consultation through the account of the National Commission of Primaries of the opposition.
“Citizens can rest assured that their identity will not be compromised in any scenario. We want to convey confidence. Already in 2012, measures were taken to protect identity,” stressed Casal, quoted on the Commission’s Twitter account.
In the same way, he pointed out that in the next meetings other issues regarding the postulates will be addressed.
“The disqualification measure does not represent a limitation, because it refers to public office and not to political rights. It will depend on the voters,” he noted.
These elections are expected to take place on October 22.
