The leading indicator Household Consumption Intention (ICF) rose 1.4% in September, reaching 84.4 points, following the upward trend started in January this year. The level exceeds by 16.5% the result of September last year. The data were released today (22) by the National Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC).
According to CNC, the increase was influenced by the improvement in the job market. “In fact, the indicators of Current Employment and Professional Perspective remained the only ones in which all families are satisfied”, emphasizes the entity.
The Professional Outlook rose 1.4% in September to 103.4 points, after falling 0.3% in August. In the annual comparison, the high is 25.3%. The data shows that 47.1% of respondents said they have a positive outlook for employment in the next 6 months.
The second component with the greatest influence on the ICF in the month was the assessment of Current Income, up 2.1% to 99.1 points. In comparison with September 2021, the component rose 25.6%.
“The increase in the value of Auxílio Brasil and the recovery of part of the purchasing power resulting from the July and August deflations contributed to this. For families with incomes below ten times the minimum wage, the increase was even more expressive (2.2%), which corroborates the influence of income programs”, explains the CNC.
The Consumption Perspective in the coming months rose 1.2% from August to September and 7.8% in the annual comparison. According to the entity, the component was favored by “advances in consumption conditions, with more favorable income, inflation and labor market”.
However, CNC points out that, because the financial support for low-income families is temporary, the Consumption Perspective grew influenced by families with incomes above ten minimum wages.
