The Brazilian economy is expected to receive an injection of R$125.6 billion with the payment of the second installment of the 13th salary. The estimate, from the National Confederation of Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC), is 4.8% higher than the R$119.8 billion paid last year.
According to CNC research, which analyzed Brazilians’ consumption intentions, the majority of this total, R$44.1 billion or 35%, should be spent on end-of-year purchases, that is, on the consumption of goods.
Among the sectors that will benefit most from consumers’ purchasing intentions are clothing and footwear (80%), bookstores and stationery stores (50%) and housewares stores (33%).
A similar amount, of R$42.5 billion or 34% of the total, should be directed to paying off debts. The remainder will be spent on the consumption of services (R$24 billion) and savings (R$15 billion).
According to the president of the CNC, José Roberto Tadros, there was an increase in the level of employment in the job market and a slight drop in the degree of commitment of the population’s average income in the last 12 months, from 30.1% a year ago, to 29. 9% currently.
