CMN authorizes renegotiation of rural credit in Rio Grande do Sul

Rural producers in municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul affected by the floods will have more time to renegotiate their debts. In an extraordinary meeting this Tuesday (26), the National Monetary Council (CMN) defined new dates for financial institutions to extend installments of funding, investment and industrialization lines of credit contracted with controlled resources, granted through official banks or specific resources for the rural sector.CMN extends rural credit for producers affected by floods in RS

The due date for installments due from May 1st to December 13th is now December 16th. The measure benefits producers who meet the criteria to obtain discounts from the Decree 12,138published in August to help rural businesses affected by the floods, windstorms and landslides that hit the state in April, May and June.

In this case, the extension applies to those who formalized the request for a discount by September 30th, had the request forwarded to the Special Commission for the Analysis of Rural Credit Operations of Rio Grande do Sul, but without a response to the financial institutions until November 25th.

For those who did not have their request for a discount approved by the special commission, the CMN authorized the renegotiation of the installments without any reduction. They, however, will have to request, by December 13th, an extension of the due date of the installments from the financial institution.

Chaired by the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, the CMN is also composed of the president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, and the Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet.
