SANTO DOMINGO.- The services of Mapfre ARS will be suspended indefinitely from next Monday, November 14 by decision of the Dominican Medical Collegeor and its specialized medical societies.
The announcement is part of the plan of the fight that doctors have been carrying out for months against the Health Risk Administrators (ARS).
«We inform that an indefinite suspension of services at the national level (consultations and elective procedures) for MAPFRE ARS begins on Monday the 14th of this month. Its affiliates will be treated in a direct payment modality and with the new rates of our Specialized Medical Societies, “they pointed out.
The doctors indicated that the suspension of services to MAPFRE will be accompanied by a campaign in the offices and work centers motivating the affiliates of this ARS to change their affiliation.
Through a statement, the doctors called on the government and the institutions responsible for guaranteeing health to the population to intervene to respond to their demands and to regulate the “excessive profits that intermediaries continue to extract from social security, called in the Health Risk Management Law”.
The CMD indicated that the suspension of services to MAPFRE will be accompanied by a campaign in offices and work centers motivating the affiliates of this ARS to change their affiliation.
“Together with the suspension of services to Mapfre ARS, we announced a campaign motivating the membership of our Specialized Societies to cancel bank accounts and cards from Banco BHD (we suggest the Societies that have institutional accounts in that bank also communicate that they will transfer them to other banks). )”, the doctors advanced at a press conference.
Likewise, we notify the ARS and the National Health Service that henceforth the services offered to patients of the contributory regime in the establishments of the Public Network must be billed and paid individually to the health professionals and not included in the modality of “package” or “umbrella agreements” to the hospital.

“We reiterate that our claims are, fundamentally, first that the basic health plan be expanded with a more inclusive catalog of services and with better benefits for members; second, that in order to improve the population’s access to specialized medical care, doctors certified by their respective society be allowed to form part of the network of service providers, without the need for a code issued by the ARS (we propose that the codes assigned the ARS are replaced by the number of medical tuition) “, said the CMD.
The doctors said that the Specialized Medical Societies, with the support of the Dominican Medical Association, will send the ARS (with a copy to SISALRIL, DIDA and CNSS) a warning notice about the entry into force of their updated rates (each Specialized Society will have a unique, which will apply to all ARS). “These tariffs will begin to be applied as of December 1 of this year.”
