CMD denounces assault on personnel at Los Mina Maternity

CMD denuncia agresión a personal en Maternidad de Los Mina

The regional of the Dominican Medical College (CMD) of the National District and the branch of the Santo Domingo Province They denounced this Friday that the personnel who work at the San Lorenzo de Los Mina Maternal and Child Hospital are victims of violence and aggression by patients and families.

As indicated by the union through a press release, last Tuesday, March 7 at noon, a pediatric resident was physically assaulted by the mother of a patient in the Emergency area.

Notes that No security officer showed up at the scene to help the doctor identified as Paula Mejíaso that the people present were obliged to stop the aggression.

They added that doctors feel vulnerable working in the pediatric emergency area of this clinicbecause “there are no security personnel at the door”, exposing themselves to aggression from patients or their relatives, mainly at dawn.

For that reason, the CMD made a call to the authorities of the National Health Service (SNS), the Ministry of Public Health and the Government to stop the attacks on health personnel, because they feel that many hospitals have become unsafe places for the exercise of the profession.
