The controversial initiative, which has as one of its main promoters the liberal deputy Édgar Acosta, was to be discussed this Wednesday in the Lower House but due to the lack of a quorum, the meeting was adjourned before it was analyzed, but not without first generating various speeches and positions for and against.
“What would be your position if the regulatory institution, in this case Seprelad, sends you a report saying that these organizations or associations are controlled by themselves and that it is ‘over-legislation’? That is why last year the plenary session of Deputies had rejected it,” said deputy Basilio “Bachi” Núñez.
Núñez, leader of the Colorado Honor movement (HC) caucus in the Chamber of Deputies, observed the political motivations of this type of approach and debate when highlighting that there is a unity of opposition groups and the ruling party in the government that he seeks to persecute his electoral opponents.
HC referents repeatedly condemned the political and media persecutions that have been taking place against their leader and candidate for the presidency of the Governing Board of the National Republican Association (ANR), former president Horacio Cartes, and against presidential candidate Santiago Peña .
