While a sector of Congress continues to present bills to repeal the reorganization of Petroperuthe financial crisis continues, and the Executive is analyzing how to generate resources to solve the more than US$5,000 million in debts that the company has.
In the midst of this situation, one of the things that has drawn attention is the sweethearts that the state workers have. According to data from the Minister of Economy and Finance, Denisse Miralles, around S/270 million is spent annually only on these “benefits”, which do not include salaries.
But in addition to these privileges, collaborators also have spaces belonging to the oil company, and that are not linked to the work they do. One of those places is the Petroperú Club, located on Club Golf Los Incas 320 avenue, Santiago de Surco.
This is a place that already has more than 1,000 regular associates. Although this property was acquired in 1973, the club was founded in 1972. Today it has 10 sports fields, eight social rooms and provides various services for its members.
Although this is a space designed mainly for workers, it also opens the possibility for outsiders to register. To do this, it is necessary to pay the entrance fee of US$1,000 and be endorsed by two people affiliated with the club. This is an infrastructure of 18,000 square meters, whose value would exceed US$23 million. Although the company is the owner, it gave its use to the Club Petroperú Civil Association to operate it. The oil company, as specified in its 2022 annual report, does not receive any compensation for the use of the asset and has requested the return of the asset.
For now, the sale of Petroperú properties is being prepared and although the complete list is still unknown, it could be included in it.
But it is not the only club. In Talara, the epicenter of the operation, a social club with a swimming pool was also built for the comfort of state workers. In August 2011, the government of Ollanta Humala, the state company ordered the construction of a synthetic field with a reserved amount, according to documents from the oil company. In addition, a somewhat more exclusive club is maintained for state managers, called the Punta Arenas Club.
Petroperú also has two mansions in El Olivar park, in the San Isidro district. According to Barboza, these two homes are valued at US$8 million. One is located at Av. Los Incas 460 and has an area of 2,230 m2. The other is located at 340 Pallardelli Street and measures 374 m2. Both houses were used as archives, but today they are abandoned.
STRIKE
On the other hand, the head of the MEF reported that today they would have a meeting with the oil company’s unions to analyze the emergency decree. However, workers are already preparing a 72-hour national strike to demand the resignation of the head of the Economy.
Through RPP, it was announced that the general secretary of the National Federation of Oil, Energy and Related Workers of Peru, Rafael Noblecilla, blamed the company’s crisis on the MEF official who has only been in office for three months.
