A technical failure in the global network of Cloudflare, a company that offers internet access infrastructure, temporarily took down or made access to hundreds of websites, applications and services around the world difficult.
Around 9 am this Tuesday (18), the company reported that it was trying to identify the causes of the instability that affected its numerous customers, including the Gov.br platform, ChatGPT, the social network X and Spotify.
Around noon, Cloudflare announced that it had resolved the problem, but that some websites, applications and services would take some more time to repair the effects of the technical “incident”.
“We are working on a fix to resolve this issue and continue to monitor the situation to identify any additional incidents.” At 12:40 pm, the company admitted that “several problems persisted”.

Throughout the morning, thousands of internet users from all over the world reported, on the Downdetector platform, which monitors records of failures on the world wide web, that they were unable to access various websites, applications and services. In some cases, the page accessed opened, but not all the content was available.
Promising to increase the security, performance and reliability of online websites and applications, Cloudflare offers a wide range of services to companies, organizations and internet users, for which it acts as a kind of intermediary. “This is done through the use of a powerful edge network [rede de servidores espalhados globalmente] that distributes content and other services”, transferring them as close as possible to end users.
In practice, the idea is that the service provided speeds up page loading and protects servers against digital attacks.
