The Regional General Hospital number 25 is already being built in the same place it has occupied since 1967: on Ignacio Zaragoza road, Iztapalapa mayor’s office. The work began and is in charge of the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena). It will have 180 beds and an investment cost of 2,600 million pesos.

It was demolished after it suffered structural damage from the earthquake on September 19, 2017. Since then, the beneficiaries of the eastern part of Mexico City and surrounding municipalities, mainly Nezahualcóyotl, have had to go to other units in Texcoco and Los Kings of Peace, among others.
Zoé Robledo Aburto, director of the IMSS, reported that the studies and expert reports determined that the new hospital could be built on the same site and with the same dimensions.
He indicated that the elements of the Army are already carrying out the foundation works and the hospital will be completed before the end of the current administration.
The IMSS also began other works in 2022: the replacement of the San Alejandro hospital in Puebla, the construction of the General Hospital with a Family Medicine Unit in Tula, Hidalgo, as well as the hospital in Ciudad Juárez. This was built by the state government and was transferred to the IMSS.
