The jury, without knowing who are the authors of the photos presented in the AMETUR and Semiprofesional categories, began to analyze one by one.
Professor Carlos Gereda highlighted the quality of the works presented to the photographic contest of the mall
The member of the jury of the photographic contest organized by the Cerro Largo shopping center, valued the quality of the images presented in this year’s edition, which brought together “as 40 and a photographs of photographs”.
Asked about his perception of participants’ work, he said: “Very well, compared to other years, we have seen all of us who are judging the photo that has been a remarkable improvement. It is reaching what I always hold in the photograph, which is to take photography and take photography.”
In that sense, he explained the difference between both practices: “Now I see that they have improved a lot and are doing photography and not taking out. Taking out is at any moment you go and take a picture, but the fact is that when you study an environment, you study the light, that is to take a photograph, you make a photography.
Regarding the evaluation process, the transparency of the contest stressed: “We are swearing without knowing who the author is. Yes, of course, we don’t know who he is. That guarantees all transparency.”
Gereda said that the level reached this year has surprised them: “There is very, very, very good photos, that we are making us quite difficult to get to which the winners will be.”
As for the evolution of the contest, he stressed with enthusiasm: “There has been a huge overcoming last year to this, huge. And which is very happy because I, like us, all the jurors, are lovers of photography. One always fears that this decay and then nobody brings photos, but no; this year there is more than the other year and of much better quality.”
Finally, he also highlighted the influence of technology in the result: “The technique has also improved, yes, of course, today, with cell phones and then with photoshop treatments and that kind of thing, the photo has greatly improved. The cell phone is taken excellent photos, excellent.”
