Santo Domingo, RD. – The popular pension fund manager (Popular AFP), in alliance with the National Council of the aging person (CONAPE), opened the Clemente Pérez Day Homein the province of Pedernales, with the aim of offering comprehensive care to the elderly population of this town.
The new center occupies a total of 700 square meters of land, with 204.5 meters of construction and 495.5 meters of green areas and parking. It has living areas, bathrooms, medical office, dining room, kitchen, laundry, administrative offices, Gazebo and recreational spaces, in an environment specially designed to promote the physical, emotional and social development of aging.
Services include basic medical care, recreational and recreational activities, workshops and psychosocial accompaniment.

This effort was carried out with an investment of RD $ 37.5 million, as part of the Popular AFP Social Responsibility Program, “aging with dignity”, and makes the entity the first private institution to finance a project of this nature, thus reaffirming its commitment to the improvement of the quality of life of the elderly.
The Executive Vice President of Finance and Operations of Popular AFP, Luis José Jiménez, expressed during the opening ceremony that in this subsidiary of the popular group “we believe in leadership that drives economic and social development with purpose and humanity; a leadership that calls us to act with depth, closeness and commitment.”

The center will have the capacity to receive 50 older adults daily from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, allowing their relatives to work with the peace of mind that their loved ones receive care and attention in a respectful and stimulating environment.
A space that honors bequeathed and strengthens the community
During the opening ceremony, posthumous recognition was paid to former Popular AFP president, Eduardo J. Grullón, for his decrease determined to this initiative since its inception. The home is considered by the entity as part of its institutional legacy, and in its honor a commemorative plaque located in the main area of the building was revealed.
Also, the center is named after the Lord Clemente Pérezprominent community leader of Pedernales, remembered for their vocation of service and its commitment to the population of the municipality. The name was proposed and selected by the community itself during a meeting coordinated by the local mayor’s office, in recognition of its impact and legacy.
This day during the day represents a milestone in the model of comprehensive care for the elderly in the Dominican Republic, highlighting the importance of public-private alliances as catalysts of community development and social welfare.
