Disused furniture and equipment were collected today by the Cleaning Authority as part of a household goods operation, in Villas Las Acacias in the township of Don Bosco.
Within the “Cleaning the Neighborhood” Operation, by order of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, days of collection of belongings, sweeping, fumigation and grass cutting are carried out, coordinated by the Government of the Province of Panama and the Communal Boards.
Alonso Filós, General Administrator of the AAUD, pointed out that unlike other years, the volumes of waste have not increased, as have household items.
Between 1,100 and 1,200 tons of waste are collected daily in the capital city and San Miguelito. In the month of December it is expected that they can reach up to 1,500 tons.
Filós also referred to the collection works that are carried out in points such as old Ceremi and others close to the air terminal.
When asked about the situation in Calidonia, the General Administrator of the AAUD explained that as the center of the city, in this commercial and residential area, collection takes place twice a day.
In Calidonia, due to the presence of the homeless or the so-called homeless, the AAUD responds to complaints from businesses, hotels and restaurants because they break up the garbage and spread it on the sidewalks.
On the other hand, the installation of Christmas tree collection points, the same as last year, is planned in Cinta Costera, USMA premises and the Rommel Fernández y Don Bosco stadium.
Some 20 ants and 30 operations workers worked on the operation, supported by five dump trucks, a backhoe, two packers and two grates.
The vehicle fleet is between 35 to 40 trucks, in a variant way.
