Bolivian businessman Marcelo Claure gave his first interview about the results of his survey of presidential candidates and said that Luis Arce Catacora is one of the worst presidents of the history of Bolivia, which is why he assured that the country needs a resounding change in its economic model.
“Today I dare to say that Arce is one of the worst presidents in history from Bolivia. And with Arce I have been very public, I have tried to help him since the day he came to power; but Arce didn’t feel like responding to my message, or giving me a meeting out of courtesy, and I believe that, as a Bolivian who represents Bolivia in the world, I have earned the right to be able to sit down with a president and at least Let me listen to the ideas I have for my country,” Claure said in an interview with Bolivisión.
According to Claure, the results of his survey revealed that the approval rating of the country’s current president does not exceed 5% and that 80% of the population wants a change in the country’s business model to get out of the economic and food crisis.
“Bolivia is looking for a change. Logically what we have now does not work; What we have had in recent years is not working and the people of Bolivia are begging for change. I don’t know enough about all the candidates, but what I have seen so far is that none of them have a profile like that. None of the other candidates have been clear in saying: ‘this is my program, should I be elected.’ What we have seen at this moment is a total rejection of people who have been in this for a long time (Government),” said the Bolivian businessman, from Miami.
Regarding Evo Morales, he said he does not agree with what he has done and He assured that he is against relationships with minors of age, because he is the father of a family and has six children, of which five are women. He indicated that justice will be in charge of investigating and punishing Evo; but he was clear in saying that there are several indications against him for the crimes of which he is accused in Bolivia and Argentina.
In addition, he assured that Evo does not have the business model that Bolivia needs and said being “disappointed” in him, so he ruled out giving him his support in the future. However, he acknowledged that he spoke with him three months ago and that before that he had other conversations to find out his political plans and to talk about the reality of the country.
For Claure, taking into account the results of his survey, and for the moment, Manfred Reyes Villa and Samuel Doria Medina They are the main options for change for the countrysince the first receives 80% approval in Cochabamba and the second is one of the best businessmen in Bolivia.
However, he clarified that “it is too early” to opt for a candidate, because the population still does not know his economic proposals and he said that the primary elections should be held so that the population can meet more candidates with new intentions.
“I am a total proponent of Bolivia should have primaries. I would love to see the candidates agree, and that we have enough time for Bolivian citizens to download the application of a technology guaranteed to make this transparent on their devices; A digital primary is much more transparent than the traditional way of voting,” he explained.
For Claure the results of a primary election They would be vital to know the “leader with potential” what the country wants, so I assure you that I would even be willing to finance an election of this magnitude to support change in Bolivia.
The businessman also made it clear that He is not with the opposition or the ruling party, since he acknowledged that he has had conversations with leaders from both sides. However, he noted that he will support the candidate who has the best economic proposal, and who receives the support of the majority of Bolivians.
“My dream, which is behind all this, is that I want to give Bolivia the unique opportunity and golden that we can have a candidate whom we all support and who wins the elections with a good percentage (of votes) to be able to make the structural changes that our country needs,” he added.
Likewise, Claure stated that will not be a presidential candidate in Bolivia nor in the United States, which is where he currently resides, because he assures that he is not interested in public office, but he indicated that he is willing to help, from his experience, the new president-elect so that the country can get out of the economic crisis.
The businessman indicated that he has different projects, in the economic, health, education/training fields that he would like to develop in his country.
“My intention is not to profit from this Government (the new one); but I believe that, by using everything I have learned in these 30 something years of work that I have been in the world, being able to support Bolivia to take the path indicated,” he stated in time to emphasize his refusal to profit from Bolivian lithium.
