Claudio Bravo will leave Betis, but will not return to Chile

Claudio Bravo who turned 41 on April 13, will end his time in the Real Betis -who arrived four seasons ago at the same time as Manuel Pellegrini-, on June 30 and he is clear that he is not going to return to his native country, Chile, to hurry up his career.

Bravo has helped Real Betis qualify for European competitions three years in a row and he can do it a fourth if in this final sprint the Verdiblancos complete a task that they have been very well on track, since after the last day they are five points ahead – plus the average – over the Valencia, and Villarreal in seven, their pursuers in the fight for seventh place, while they have Real only two behind in the fight for sixth.

In a recent interview with Channel 13, Claudio Bravo made it clear that he has no intention of returning to his native Chile to prolong his career as a goalkeeper: “If I weigh certain things, I don’t have the need to return to Chile or my environment. suffered from other people’s criticism. “I don’t want to experience that other movie.” And Bravo is aware of the fierce criticism received by his teammate Arturo Vidal in his second stage in Colo Colo: “You see Arturo’s career, playing in clubs, that it is difficult for other teammates to have a career like that. Then you see that he arrives in Chile and it hurts that they trash him, that at first they throw a thousand things at him because it doesn’t happen in another country.”

The Chilean goalkeeper is clear that his days at Real Betis – with whom he has only been able to play nine games this season due to injuries – are coming to an end, but he does not know what he will do in the future: “I don’t have anything clear. In a few more weeks I will have to finish my contract with Betis and I want everything to end well. I have not wanted to see or hear proposals for later because I want to finish this stage here in the best way,” says Bravo, who adds: “If I get an offer that generates good feelings and fills me with enthusiasm, logically I will extend my career. If nothing arrives or something appears that does not generate anything for me or the expectations do not meet what I am used to, the cycle is cut.”

Claudio Bravo faces the final stretch of a very long and successful career that began at the beginning of the century in the lower ranks of Colo Colo and has spent the last eighteen seasons in Europe (Real Sociedad 2006, Barcelona 2014, Manchester City 2016 and Real Betis 2020 ): “My future doesn’t worry me at all. The concern comes more from the external for what comes next, but I have tried to do things in a good way and I have had a certain degree of fortune. “That gives me some peace of mind in this work stage.”
