MIAMI, United States. — The Spanish producer, screenwriter, businessman, film director and animator Claudio Biern, creator of well-known animated series, passed away last Sunday in his native Palma de Mallorca.
Known as the Spanish Walt Disney, Biern was the producer of the legendary episodes of D’Artacán and the three Muskehounds, David the Gnome, Mortadelo and Filemon, among others that marked an era on television in Spain and in several Latin American countries.
The Spanish creator also founded the audiovisual production companies RBR Internacional and Apolo Films.
The EFE Agency highlights that Biern’s animated series “are part of the social imaginary in Spain, especially among those born in the 70s and 80s” of the last century.
In addition to the aforementioned productions, Claudio Biern was in charge of making Ruy, the little Cid, The Cobi Troupe, Mozart’s band, The Untouchables by Elliot Mouse, Fantaghiro, Zipi and Zape, The invisible man, Iron Kid Y Angus&Cheryl.
EFE remember that Biern was also behind television productions with real images, such as the memory of water Y the beggar marquis.
The media outlet also points out that just over a year ago it promoted a renewed 3D version of D’Artacán and the three Muskehounds.
In addition to his work in the entertainment industry, Claudio Biern also ventured into sports management as director of the Espanyol football club, of which he was a member in three stages (1986-1989, 1993-1994 and 2004-2006) and of which he came to be his vice president.
In life, Claudio Biern received more than 40 awards, such as the Extraordinary Talent Award from the 2017 Television Academy, the Best Communicator with Children at the El Chupete International Children’s Communication Festival in 2014 or the President Macià Work Medal from the Generalitat of Catalonia in 2011.
