“I think that in any case it is good that the prosecutor has already left office; It is evident that he did not do a good job,” commented the president during the morning press conference this Thursday.
On the other hand, he mentioned that although Guanajuato leads the homicide figures At the national level, it is necessary to address the structural causes of this crisis.
“We want to support, collaborate and do the work that is necessary to build peace in Guanajuato”he declared, adding that his administration already has teams working in Celaya and León to address the causes of the problem.
The president attributed part of the crisis to a failed development model in the state, which has led to high rates of poverty and inequality.
“Guanajuato is not only the State with the highest number of homicides, but it is the state with the Lowest median income in the entire countrywith the highest number of addictions. León is the city that concentrates the greatest poverty, even though León was one of the most prosperous cities at some point in the country. Today poverty, the percentage of poverty is very high,” said the head of the federal Executive.
