Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, president of Mexico, regretted the death of Ifigenia Martínezpresident of the Chamber of Deputies, who he said was a consistent woman of conviction.
Through her official social networks, the head of the federal Executive recalled that “on June 2 I voted for Ifigenia Martínez, a consistent woman of convictions. On October 1, I received the presidential sash from your hands. Today he left us.”
He expressed his affection and solidarity to the family of the representative of the Left in Mexico. “Goodbye, dear teacher Iphigenia!”
Ifigenia Martínez died at the age of 94. Her last public position was being president of the Chamber of Deputies.
She, along with Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas and Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, was the founder of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), a political institution that lost its registration this year.
