- The president of Mexico and the governor of Nayarit continue the vision of connectivity, development and transformation for Nayarit and Jalisco.
Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit, December 28, 2024. The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, together with the governor of Nayarit, Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, inaugurated the Bucerías-Puerto Vallarta highway section, the last segment of the Jala-Puerto highway Vallarta, a key work for regional connectivity.
With a total length of 173 kilometers, the 33.2-kilometer stretch delivered connects the coasts of Nayarit and Jalisco, significantly reducing travel times:
- From 5 hours to 2 and a half hours between Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.
- From 3 and a half to 1 and a half hours between Tepic and the south coast.
Recognition of joint effort
In his speech, the state governor, Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, thanked the president for the commitment of the president to the development of Nayarit:
“Feel president, at the beginning of your government, who unconditionally has the strength and support of all the people of Nayarit. With you, let us move forward along the path of social rights and justice throughout Mexico.”
The head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, Jesús Esteva Medina, explained that the work required an investment of more than 2 billion pesos, generated more than 2 thousand jobs and highlighted that the Tepic section will be completed in May 2025. -Compostela, thus benefiting inhabitants of six municipalities.
Strategic commitments for Nayarit
During the event, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced new priority works for the state, as a result of a meeting with Governor Navarro:
- Construction of the Amado Nervo Bridge (formerly the Federación Bridge), which will connect Bahía de Banderas and Puerto Vallarta.
- Aqueduct for the Nayarit coast, guaranteeing quality drinking water.
- Artisanal roads to strengthen the infrastructure in the Wixárika region.
Sheinbaum highlighted the importance of these works as part of the country’s transformation project:
“Just as today we inaugurated this section of the highway, we will continue working to bring development and well-being to every corner of Nayarit and Mexico.”
Strengthening social programs
The president also reiterated her administration’s commitment to social programs, which will be strengthened to benefit more families in Nayarit and the rest of the country.
Presence of authorities and citizens
The event was attended by federal cabinet secretaries, the governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus, the mayors of Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit, and Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Héctor Santana and Luis Munguía respectively, as well as representatives of the three levels of government and citizens of both entities.
With these actions, the Government of Mexico reaffirms its commitment to transform infrastructure, guarantee social well-being and promote economic and cultural development in each region of the country.
