According to the most recent survey by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB), the perception of citizens about the increase in insecurity in Bogotá is the highest of the last 6 years.

The Mayor highlighted the impact that the 17,820 uniformed personnel who are currently reinforcing security in Bogotá have had on security. In that sense, she highlighted that the homicides in July presented a significant reduction of 15.2% when compared to the same month in 2021, going from 105 cases last year to 89 in July 2022.

In this way, according to the Mayor’s Office, Bogotá is consolidated as the city with the best performance compared to other capitals of the country in terms of homicides, having the lowest rate per hundred thousand inhabitants, compared to cities such as Cartagena (19). , Cali (16), Barranquilla (16), Medellín (8), among others. In addition, it has less than half the rate that occurs at the national level (14.6).

Also noteworthy is the reduction in theft of motor vehicles and motorcycles in the month of July 2022 by 26.8% and 33%respectively, compared to the same month of 2021.

The other crimes that presented a positive behavior correspond to: extortion (-79.1%), shoplifting (-72.8%), residential theft (-53.7%), personal injury (-21.6%). ) and sexual crimes (-14.1%).
