Claudia López government would sell 9.4% of GEB shares

The Bogotá Energy Group (GEB) informed the Financial Superintendency that the Bogota Capital District will study the feasibility to sell 9.4% of the shares of the electricity transmission and gas transportation company.

(See: Rules for access to housing in Bogotá for which they criticize the POT).

This operation would be carried out within the framework of District Decree 706 of 2017, in which the District was authorized to dispose of up to 20% of the total shares it has in GEB.

To this end, the Group signed with the Capital District of Bogotá, its majority shareholder, through the District Secretary of Finance, an Inter-administrative contract that has the objective of managing the democratization process, which includes the development of the coordination tasks and operational procedures necessary to advance the different stages of exploration and implementation of “the subsequent stage (s)”, Under the direction of the Ministry of Finance.

(See: Bogotá with $ 27 billion for works).

All costs and expenses generated by democratization will be assumed by the Capital District. The GEB will keep the market informed about the subsequent procedures in relation to this process”, Stressed the GEB, a firm that is considered the ‘jewel in the crown’ in contributions to the District’s finances.

It is worth remembering that, in 2018, a shareholding democratization process was carried out through which natural and legal persons became shareholders, upon acquiring the 10.4%, which allowed the entry of 1.94 billion pesos for new GEB projects.

(See: Arbitration Court approved agreement between GEB and Enel Américas).

Currently, in addition to the District (which has 65.68%), the other majority shares of the Group are Future (8.32%), Protection (5.86%), Corficolombiana (5.18%) and Colfondos (2.27%)

(See: It is already a fact: Enel Bogotá, a GEB and Enel Américas company, is born).
