A rolling museum
Havana is considered an outdoor rolling museum, mainly due to the large number of old cars that circulate through its streets, one of the direct consequences of the policy of fence and isolation implemented by Washington since 1960.
With more than 150 thousand classic vehicles, the vast majority out of the thriving United States automotive industry between 1930 and 1960, the Cuban capital has become the largest automotive outdoor exhibition in the world.

Having one of the oldest car parks in the world is one of the main tourist and heritage assets of the island, sustained by the perseverance and inventiveness of its owners over decades that have maintained operations to such vehicles in a constant adaptation, replacement and modernization of technical pieces and systems.
However, some of these classics maintain their original mechanics and in some provinces many of them can be seen in perfect condition, some restored and others in process, observed a report published in 2017 by the newspaper United States Los Angeles Times.
“Although there are few cars that retain their original parts. In fact, there are few that can be said to be in adequate maintenance conditions because even a Cadillac can serve as a taxi. But the work of maintaining their means of transport that for others are true motor jewels has turned many Cubans into passionate about the restoration, or at least, in mechanical empirical, ”described the angeline medium.
