Authorities of the General Directorate of Schools (DGE) suspended classes for the evening and night shifts this Wednesday due to the continuity of the Zonda wind that affects the entire province, after having done the same with the dictation of the morning shift for all levels.
“Due to the Zonda wind, the measure covers all levels and modalities of the educational system throughout the province,” they reported in a statement from the DGE.
Meanwhile, from Civil Defense, its head Guillermo Burrieza assured that So far no fires have been reported..
Only some residents had to turn off some minor pastures in a dump, without having to go to the call of firefighters.
Although the recorded gusts were slight, in some sectors several storms were reported. inconveniences such as fallen poles and branches, or cut cables without, so far, having to mourn victims.
Due to the evolution of the weather forecasts with strong Zonda wind gusts, the General Directorate of Schools communicates that the suspension of face-to-face classes arranged for this Wednesday, July 6, is extended to the evening and night shifts at all levels and educational modalities from the entire province.
For its part, the Civil Defense of Mendoza launched an alert for the day “due to the conditions of instability with the occurrence of Zonda wind, affecting the foothills and then at noon the possibilities increase in different areas of the province.”
Meanwhile, Climatic Contingencies in its forecast indicated a cloudy day, temperature rise with a maximum of 24 degrees, and snowfall in the mountains.
Among several recommendations, it is advised to drive and exercise extreme caution; avoid handling flammable materials and elements that can cause sparks or fire, since the dryness of the environment during the Zonda increases the possibility of fires; and make sure to completely put out the cigarette butt before throwing it away.
