Classes in Petrópolis schools are expected to resume this Thursday (18), after having been suspended this Wednesday (17) due to the heavy rains that hit the city. The information was released by the city hall. 
In addition to the closure of municipal schools, cars were swept away by the current and trees and walls fell. The municipal Civil Defense sent an “extreme alert” to cell phones regarding the risk of flooding and landslides. Sirens were activated in several parts of the city.
Videos taken by residents show a vehicle being driven under a bridge. The car was located and lifted. Rescue teams are searching for possible victims. and the military continues to search for possible victims. Two cars were removed from the Palatine River, in the city center.
Civil Defense asks the population to avoid unnecessary travel and remain attentive to official communications and alerts. In case of emergency, the advice is to call 199.
Supply
The supply company Águas do Imperador reported that some regions are having their supply affected due to the loss of electricity in some operational units, such as in Retiro, in the locations of Vale dos Esquilos, Comunidade do Neylor and Comunidade da Cocada, in addition to the entire Carangola region.
Enel, the energy distribution concessionaire, said 4,558 customers were affected. There is still no deadline for the normalization of services.
