Classes in Peru: How to report if I am a witness or victim of school violence?

WHAT DO I DO IF I AM A VICTIM OR WITNESS OF A CASE OF SCHOOL VIOLENCE?

  • What you have to do is go to www.siseve.pe
  • Just by completing a virtual form you will receive: a list of protection establishments where you could ask for help in your area (health post, DEMUNA, police station, prosecutor’s office, etc.), suggestions to avoid a similar incident, and a code to follow up to your case.

HOW DOES SÍSEVE WORK?

  • To avoid false accusations, you must have your Identity Document (DNI) at hand. It should be noted that only the SíseVe central team will be able to see your data.
  • When using www.siseve.perepresentatives of your school and education authorities at the local, regional and national levels will be able to follow up on your case.
  • The goal of SÍseVe is for every affected student to feel better as soon as possible. In addition, they will be able to count on real and disaggregated statistics at the national level.

HOW TO REPORT A CASE OF SCHOOL VIOLENCE IN SÍSEVE?

  • If you have already reported a case before, all you have to do is log in and enter your password.
  • In case it is the first time that you report a case of school violence, you must enter your DNI, ubigeo number, names, surnames, your cell phone number, email, create a password and accept the web privacy notice.
  • Finally, click on register user.

HOW TO REPORT A CASE OF SCHOOL VIOLENCE IN SÍSEVE?

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER REPORTING?

  • School violence between students: The Minedu, through the DRE and UGEL, will take the necessary actions to provide protection to those affected and restore school coexistence.
  • Sexual violence of an EI staff to a student: The measure taken is to immediately remove the alleged aggressor from the classroom until the investigation is over and thus prevent more students from being put at risk. The maximum administrative sanction may be dismissal from the post, in the case of public schools, or termination of the employment contract, in the case of private schools.

NOTE THAT:

If you are a school student attacked:

  • Your report is anonymous.
  • They will give you recommendations to prevent it from happening again.
  • They will tell you where to look for help in your area.
  • You will get a tracking code from your report, so you know what they are doing to help you.

If you are a witness:

  • They will inform you about how to help the victim of school violence.
  • You will know the institutions that provide help in your area.
  • You will get a report code so you can follow up on the case.
  • Your report will help generate an investigation of the case.
  • With the information you provide, it can be articulated with other child protection systems.
