“We will insist and respond with authority to blockades and any act of violence,” wrote Galán on his X account in reference to what happened on Friday night, when riots broke out for the second consecutive day in the student protest that blocked one of the city’s main avenues for hours.

According to the mayor, after “exhaust all avenues for dialogue” To clear the blocked area, members of the Police intervened “to restore order and mobility.”

“The resulting disturbances left five people injured, including a uniformed officer and two coordinators of mixed dialogue teams from the District. The instruction is clear: in Bogotá we respect protest as long as it does not affect the rights of those who decide not to demonstrate.”the mayor said.
