Clarification of José Ramón López Beltrán and his wife Carolyn Adams

Adjustments in 44% of the first circle of the President

Newspaper La Jornada
Monday, February 14, 2022, p. 5

José Ramón López Beltrán, son of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, through a message on social networks, clarifies what has been spread about him and his wife: It is false, defamatory information. I have no interference in the Mexican government and for a year I have been working in a company in Houston, Texas. Here is the full text:

“In 2018 I made the decision to continue practicing my legal profession, until we decided as a family to move to the United States. Currently and since 2020 I work as a development and construction legal advisor for KEI Partners, https://www.keipartners.com, a private company in Houston through which I received my TN work visa. I am a private citizen, and I have no interference in the Mexican government. My income comes one hundred percent from my work in Houston. There was and will be no conflict of interest. I ask you to respect my private life and that of my family.”

His wife Carolyn Adams, also in a message on social networks, made another clarification. Here is the full text:

“My life has always been private and I have stayed out of any circumstance, but given the situation I would like to make some clarifications:

“In recent weeks my family has been seriously exposed by endless false news published in different media outlets, defaming and slandering us, disturbing our private lives, something that is inadmissible. Everything that has been said and published about us in reference to any association with the Baker Hughes company is FALSE.

“In summary, very briefly, I explain the following: I am an American citizen of Brazilian origin, with an American father and a Brazilian mother. I studied in San Diego, where I obtained the Bill Clinton scholarship (The William Jefferson Clinton Scholarship), which projected me to study and do my internship in the United Arab Emirates, where I began to work in the energy sector and a few years later with the family Royal Emirates.

“I also worked at the United Nations Organization (UN), in the city of NY. I continued to practice my profession in the same sector and this led me to work a few years later in Mexico.

“Years went by and I met José Ramón and consequently we formed a family. Due to the circumstances, we decided to leave Mexico to continue preserving our privacy and not cause any type of conflict of interest. We have always worked and TOGETHER we will continue to build with and for our children.

“Therefore, we decided to rent a house in which, at present, it has been talked about and has generated distorted information.

“one. I rented a house for a year. José Ramón was still in the process of obtaining his visa to reside and work in the United States.

“two. Here you have to use a licensed real estate agent and the parties (landlord and tenant) rarely know each other.

“3. Everything was done under American formality, rules and requirements: contract, security deposit, monthly rents (like any other).

“4. Although I worked in the energy sector in Mexico, I never had any relationship with Baker Hughes or any of its executives.

“5. After renting, I acquired a mortgaged house like any citizen in this country and the bank was in charge of reviewing everything in detail.

“6. I have a vehicle that I continue to pay for, a detail that was not included in the alleged research.

7. They exposed our security based on slander and defamation.
