“Services and rights will be guaranteed, that is the objective: to transform areas with poverty into the city of well-being, happiness and prosperity,” he stated.
Brugada presented a total of 15 commitments as part of the ‘Charter of principles against poverty for Mexico City’.
Among the points is promoting actions for the economic autonomy of women; give special attention to boys and girls, especially in their early childhood with programs such as ‘From the cradle’; create the Public Care System, as well as undertake the “largest program in the history of the city, of construction and improvement and access to decent and adequate housing,” among others.
In the capital, 55% of households present some degree of poverty: 43% have moderate poverty and 12% suffer from extreme poverty, according to the Evaluation Council of Mexico City.
