Clandestina presents new collection «Metavelso»

With slogans such as “any place is worse than this,” Clandestina is inspired and argues about the bizarreness of life on the island, the state of permanent crisis, blackouts, mass migration and the capacity and resistance of Cubans to overcome and live in his own parallel reality.

The outfits They are inspired by coyotes, comfortable clothing for travel and oversized accessories that fit anything. The collection echoes the boom of cryptocurrencies, the blockchain and the metaverse, launching its first NFT collection in which the visuality of Clandestina bursts into digital art. With «Metavelso» the brand wants to create a bridge through which its community can move from the physical world of the Shooting Range to the digital world of Clandestina’s visual universe.

“The proposal of the event is to offer the community of clients and collaborators of Clandestina a day of picnic that begins during the day, takes advantage of the rich chill of November and extends into the early hours of the night to enjoy the catwalk show and the the new digital collection”, announce its organizers.

In the words of the creative director of the brand, Idania del Río, “every day it is more difficult to live in this country, so we need spaces to disconnect and enjoy ourselves. Metavelso is that parallel reality that one creates to feel that he is where he wants to be”.

The green space of the Shooting Range, in Vedado, will promote a festive atmosphere, with different proposals from DJs, improvisations and dance floors. The brand will carry out a “Give me your Pullover” with the new designs of the collection and the climax will be the presentation of the new collection with its 40 outfits and 40 NFTs.

In collaboration with The Canvas New York and IYK, Clandestina will launch its first collection of 40 NFTs into the digital universe. Using a new immersive technology that links clothing to NFTs through chips sewn into the outfits, Clandestina will show the new collection which will go on sale next December in its space in New York and through its online store clandestina.co.

For the musical production of the climax of the event organized by Four Wives, its catwalk, the brand is betting this year on the band of Cuban origin based in New York Yongolailan. “We share many things with them, we have seen each other grow and we are inspired by the same references and ways of living Cuba and being Cuban,” said Leire Fernández, executive director of Clandestina. Yongolalian’s music is born from the need for a new Cuban music. Sounds that travel through everyday landscapes and travel to the spatial environment of synthesizers and the mixture of rhythms and bases.

Metavelso is the fourth collection that Clandestina presents to its community. They preceded this one: “Country under Construction” (2018), “Sports Glories” (2019) and “Global Warming” (2021). After the Covid-19 pandemic, this is the first massive event in which the brand once again offers its customers the opportunity to enjoy the brand’s design and its famous parties.

Clandestine, Founded by entrepreneurs Idania Del Río and Leire Fernández, it is the first Cuban sustainable fashion brand that creates urban products one hundred percent designed and produced on the island. Inspired by the Cuban “resolve”, the brand is presented as an example of resilience and improvement.
