The municipality of Río Branco expressed concern about the lack of sending resources by the Intendencia de Cerro Largo, which has generated delays in the works of the Mevir neighborhood and surrounding areas. The director of works of the municipality, Nicolás Gramajo, explained the situation and highlighted the urgent need to receive economic items to continue with the works.
Delays and concern for the paralysis of the works
According to Gramajo, the works in Mevir began with good rhythm, but suffered two important interruptions due to the lack of essential materials and resources. “In November we managed to correct a first problem when, after a meeting with the neighbors, the intention sent the necessary materials, which allowed us to advance considerably,” recalled. However, the advance was again detained for the lack of other fundamental inputs.
The director of Works stressed that, although the Intendance assumed the provision of materials, several essential items were without covering. “There are expenses that the municipality cannot face without the support of the intention, such as diesel, hydraulic fluid and man hours. They are significant costs that directly affect the continuity of the work ”, explained.
They expect an intention response
Currently, the municipality of Rio Branco has no date for the resumption of works, since they are waiting for the Intendance’s decision on the allocation of missing funds. “We are attentive to see what the attitude of the intention is. We want to continue working, but without those resources it is impossible to advance ”, Gramajo said.
The official emphasized his commitment to the completion of the work and the impact that the stoppage generates in the neighbors. “If someone is interested in continuing the work, it is me. Leaving neighbors with the streets in disorder, without being able to comply with what is promised, is something that worries me deeply ”he said.
A call to transparency and planning
From the municipality they stressed that, throughout their management, they have prioritized the transparency and planning of the works, always ensuring compliance with the established deadlines. “For nine years we have managed with a clear criterion: we started a work with a start date and another of completion. This situation hits us because it prevents us from fulfilling that premise ”, Gramajo held.
The director of Works also warned about the risk that the current administration ends without the work being completed. “We are worried that this situation is as a debt for the next administration and that the neighbors are the most affected”he said.
Possible solutions and trust in a prompt reactivation
Despite uncertainty, Gramajo stressed that Mayor Cristian Morel has held conversations about the arrival of the necessary funds. “If the resources are finally assigned for these items that were not covered, we can ‘tighten the accelerator’ and finish the work, including the municipal homes of the Monterito neighborhood,” explained.
Finally, the director of Works reaffirmed the commitment of the municipal team with the completion of the works and hoped that the Intendance will meet the claim. “There is no one more interested in being able to continue with the work that the Directorate of Works and the Municipal Administration,” concluded.
