Civila said that the social security reform project is “invotable”

Civila

This weekend the Central Committee of the Socialist Party to evaluate his political plan in the following years and discuss current issues in the country. In addition to rejecting the educational reform proposed by the government and the “grievances” against the popular pots, as well as remembering the Frente Amplista actors who have died in recent days, one of the most emphatic points of the meeting is the rejection of the reform to the social Security raised by the National Executive. At the end of the meeting, the General Secretary of the Socialist Party, Gonzalo Civila, highlighted the conclusions of the sector in this regard.

The legislator also assured that the country suffers “a very violent process of transferring resources from the poorest and most salaried sectors to the rich” and affirmed that this has happened “since this government has been in place.”

“Exports are growing, with a 63% increase, 13% of the profit growth of the export sectors concentrated in 20 large companies in five areas, while the real salary falls for the third consecutive year and it has been three years since growth it is below inflation”, he added.

“There is growth concentrated in a very small sector of the population and the rest becoming poorer. This is combined with recent poverty, food insecurity at alarming levels, -500,000 Uruguayans with problems of some kind in this matter- that is an emergency picture ”, she rounded off.

Invotable project

Civila assured that the social security reform project responds to an “adjustment model” where the “majority of the population” “suffers”.

In this regard, the party’s general secretary indicated that they first treated him in the sector and then took the discussion to the plenary session of the Broad Front.

“We conclude that this project is unvotable, in general and in particular, no article must be voted on,” he said about the text of the initiative.

In addition, he said: “This is a reform that implies that people must work more years, they want to impose more years on them with the understanding that if we live longer we have to dedicate ourselves to work. We can’t seem to decide what to do with our lives.”

This initiative, according to Civila, “also provides for a reduction in benefits, because the way to solve the deficit is with the deterioration of benefits, deteriorating the rights and claims of people.”

“Not one article of this reform can be legitimized, doing so would help legitimize the project as a whole and we believe that for the good of our society we must do everything possible to stop it,” he asserted.
