In the informative note No.1, released by the Civil Defense of Cuba during the morning of today, Saturday, September 24, the General Staff establishes the informative phase from the province of Cienfuegos to Pinar del Río, including the special municipality of Isla de youth.
The note says the following:
“Tropical Depression No. 9 of the current cyclonic season has developed into a tropical storm, named IAN. According to information from the Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology, it has slightly gained in organization and intensity with a tendency to increase in its areas of heavy rains in the vicinity of its circulation center, with a better organized structure.
“Taking into account the potential danger that this hydrometeorological event represents given its position in the south of Cuba and its predicted trajectory, it was decided to establish the Informative Phase starting at 08:00 today, for the provinces of Cienfuegos, Villa Clara, Matanzas, Mayabeque, Havana, Artemisa, Pinar del Río and the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality.
“The rest of the provinces of the central region must maintain vigilance on the evolution and its possible influence of the rains in their respective territories.
“The population is directed to keep up to date with the information from the Institute of Meteorology and Civil Defense, through the media and the official profiles of social networks and to comply in a disciplined manner with the instructions given by local authorities.”
