Civil Aviation Board seeks to improve the traveler experience

The Civil Aviation Board (JAC) presented the draft of the National Facilitation Plan of Air Transport, a strategy aimed at simplifying and accelerating the passenger transit and cargo at all airports in the country.

His execution will start during the peak season of December 2025 – January 2026because traditionally, this period marks a greater influx of travelers and an increase in air cargo movement due to the end of year festivities.

Measures to take

He plan establishes several key measures:

  • Incorporation of face-to-face facilitators at the country’s main airports
  • Implementation of a reporting system remote via QR code
  • Designation of focal points by institution to expedite the management of incidents under the guidelines of the ICAO
  • Execution of passenger satisfaction surveys, both in person and digital, to evaluate service quality and service times.

The results of these actions will serve to strengthen planning and move towards a airport facilitation simpler and more modern.

The presentation of the plan took place during the third meeting ordinary of National Facilitation Committee (CNF), headed by Héctor Porcella, president of the JAC and the CNF.

At this meeting, all members coordinated key points to modernize processes and improve experience of the travelers.

At the meeting, the General Directorate of Passports explained the TRIP Program of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), aimed at strengthening the identification processes of travelers.

He also reported on the advance in the implementation of the Electronic Reading Passport and about the country’s entry into the Public Key Directory (PKD) Program of the ICAOwhich will allow the secure exchange of information necessary to certify electronic travel documents.

Likewise, the Ministry of Public Health presented the progress in the designation of the Las Americas International Airport (AILA) as an Air Entry Point, in accordance with the International Health Regulations (2005).

National Facilitation Committee

The National Facilitation Committee is a body attached to the JAC responsible for coordinating the procedures linked to the entry, transit and exit of aircraft, passengers, cargo and mail in the country, following ICAO standards. It meets every three months and is made up of the members of the JAC plenary session, the Director General of Immigration, the Director General of Passports, the Director General of Customs, the president of the National Drug Control Directorate, the Association of Airlines and the Airport Association.

The ministers of Public Health, Agriculture and Environment and Natural Resources participate as advisors.
