The Committee for Santa Cruz accused the Government of Luis Arce Catacora of establish a “regime of State terrorism” and “legal uncertainty”after the violent arrest of Governor Luis Fernando Camacho and the harsh police repression against the citizen protests, which demand his release.

Through a statement addressed to the international community, the Santa Cruz civic entity targeted President Arce for use “political persecution and criminalization de facto exercise of dissent, protest and free expression”.

In turn, it maintains that the National Executive manipulates the Public Ministry, the Police and the courts of justiceaccusing them of acting out of political affinity.

The Governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, was apprehended after noon on Wednesday, December 28, near his home, by the security forces and taken to La Paz, where a judge imposed four months of preventive detention in the Chonchocoro prison for the ‘Golpe I’ case.

Clashes between protesters and police lasted until the early hours of this day which had as its epicenter the area of ​​El Cristo Redentor and which even reached the Plaza 24 de Septiembre.

They also registered considerable damage to public buildings such as the Government of Santa Cruz and a state bank, perpetrated by unknown persons.

Paola Weber, Secretary of Citizen Security, denounced this Sunday that the Santa Cruz Government building was affected by an arson attack last midnight when some subjects threw Molotov cocktails destroying the front of the building and other material damage.
