“We demand that the government guarantee our security in mobility. Stop negligence, corruption and impunity”, say the organizations that call for the mobilization.
“The ORGANIZED population will not continue to allow the political and business class to sacrifice and abandon us. We will march for the right to return home alive!”, they point out.
Among the citizen organizations that convene is the Popular Ecologist Assembly and Racismo Mx.
National Guard to the Metro
The head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced this Thursday the deployment of more than 6,000 elements of the National Guard in stations and “other facilities” of the Metro of the capital, after a series of incidents that he described as unusual.
Sheinbaum said that he asked President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for the support of the National Guard just on Wednesday, after several “atypical” episodes.
On Saturday, a train crash in the capital’s Metro left at least one woman dead and another 57 people injured.

The accident followed the May 2021 collapse of the track overpass between two stations, killing 26 people.
Sheinbaum narrated that on the same day that the trains collided, another problem occurred at a station, the next day another incident and on Wednesday one more in the tire of a wagon that had been checked the day before.
“They are actions, moments, atypical events that are occurring in the Metro,” Sheinbaum said during López Obrador’s morning conference.
“You have to do all the investigations. What we can say is that they are episodes that are outside of what normally happens,” she said when asked if it was sabotage.
The official explained that the elements of the National Guard will be at the Metro facilities for a few months and that their permanence will be evaluated later.
