The platforms and the organization called “Mujeres Guerreras” organized a protest march on Friday against government abuses in the apprehension of the governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, now in pretrial detention in jail in La Paz.

With Bolivian and Chuquisacan flags, dozens of people called for themselves to take to the streets and express their annoyance against the Government of Luis Arce, for the political and judicial persecution of opposition leaders.

Julián Oropeza, a leader member of the Single Union Confederation of Peasant Workers of Bolivia (CSUTCB), parallel to the pro-government Confederation, called for the unity of the Bolivian population, leaving aside the political colors, to face the political persecution.

“We have elected a government to manage and improve the economic and social situation of the country, not to carry out political persecution. We support Santa Cruz and we are against the arrest of Governor Luis Fernando Camacho“, he pointed.

The citizen platforms announced new mobilizations starting Tuesday.
