On the night of October 17, the company Equipos Consultores presented its survey in which it measures the approval of the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, and found that 49% said they approve of the coalition leader’s management.
32% stated that they disapprove, and 19% that they neither approve nor disapprove. “The measurement is stable not only with respect to the immediately previous data, but also shows stability in a medium-term perspective. From July 2021 to the present, judgments of the president remain within a narrow range, with average approval of just under 50% and disapproval of just over 30%,” Teams said in the summary.
Although it seemed that Lacalle Pou emerged stronger from the mega-scandal of Alejandro Astesiano, his personal custodian who is accused of allegedly leading a large network of forgery of documents and sale of illegitimate passports to Russians, a survey by the Usina de Percepción Ciudadana of the University of the Republic found that the blow was felt in sympathy for his administration.
According to Usina, while in July 38.1% said they approved of his government, now that indicator stands at 36.8%. On the contrary, disapproval rose from 38.5% to 42.6% from July to September.
Those who answered that they neither approve nor disapprove were 18.6% of those consulted and those who did not know or did not answer the question were 2.1%.
The spectre
Teams measures the ideological position of the people consulted: 64% of those who disapproved of the right-wing president defined themselves as leftist; 25% neither approve nor disapprove and only 11% approve.
Among those who position themselves in the center of the political spectrum, 47% approve, 25% neither approve nor disapprove, and 28% disapprove.
For their part, among those who consider themselves to be on the right, 80% approve, 8% neither approve nor disapprove, and 12% do not approve.
