The Department for Social Prosperity provided details of the investment it allocated throughout the year to social programs most important with the objective of improve the living conditions of families who need it most and in turn stimulate social mobility and drive the economy. How much did the Government allocate and invest in the payments?
Citizen Income
• Through the Citizen Income program, the national government reached coverage of 2.9 million homes through an investment of $2.9 billion.
• The intervention line “Assessment of care” reaches 546,761 homes with mothers who are heads of household and children under six years of age.
• The “Colombia Without Hunger” line (aimed at two-parent households with children and adolescents between 6 and 17 years old) reaches more than 2.3 million homes.
• Among the beneficiaries there are also 140,207 indigenous households and 27,207 that include people with disabilities.

Young Income
• With an investment of $445,830, Renta Joven supported 364,736 young students.
• This initiative includes a financial subsidy so that students can cover part of the cost of renting a home to facilitate access, permanence and graduation of the young population.
• It also contemplates a process of comprehensive support, both individual and community, focused on strengthening personal, social, academic and productive capacities with the aim of promoting social mobility and a decent life path.
Greater Colombia
• Colombia Mayor reached coverage of 1.6 million older people and represented a national investment of $2.1 billion in 2024.
• This program includes monthly financial assistance that is given directly to elderly people who are homeless, who do not have a pension or who live in poverty.
What are Citizen Income, Youth Income and Colombia Mayor?
The Citizen Income programs (with coverage of 2.9 million homes), Young Income (almost 365 thousand students) and Greater Colombia (1.6 million older adults), contemplate periodic monetary assistance that is granted transparently and without intermediaries according to the classification of households in the System for Identification of Potential Beneficiaries of Social Programs (SISBÉN IV).
Through this tool, the Government can identify families that are in a vulnerable situation and develop efficient public policies to improve living conditions in a comprehensive and sustainable manner.
The Department for Social Prosperity specified that In 2024, it allocated a total of 6.3 billion pesos in monetary transfers to households in poverty.
