Citizen Income: if I do not sign the Commitment Act, can I lose the subsidy?

Citizen Income is a program implemented by the Colombian government in 2024, designed to combat extreme poverty and improve the living conditions of vulnerable families. However, There are certain requirements to respect in order not to lose the subsidyamong them, the signing of the commitment document.

Consequences of not signing the Commitment Act

Until November 9, those people who receive this social assistance can sign the Commitment and Co-Responsibility Act. Otherwise, they may suffer several consequences, including:

1. Suspension of Benefits: If a household does not sign the act, it could face suspension of the monetary transfers it receives through the program. This document is mandatory to continue receiving financial assistance.

2. Deadlines for signature: Households have until the first week of November to submit the corresponding documentation. This deadline is crucial, since a period of 90 days is established from the registration of the home, with an additional extension of 45 days in case of difficulties.

3. Signature Process: The signing of the minutes can be done in person at the municipal offices or digitally through the Department of Social Prosperity portal.
The fundamental data is that all members of the household are identified and that they commit to comply with the responsibilities established in the program.

4. Opportunities to Regularize: Any type of procedure and clarification must be carried out within the corresponding period, otherwise you run the risk that the benefit will be canceled and you will not be able to reverse it.

Selected families can receive an economic bonus that varies between 300,000 and 500,000 Colombian pesos. Payments are given gradually and it is an important condition to sign the Commitment Certificate in order to receive them.

1.LThe interested parties must be registered in group A of Sisbén IV, which represents those families that are in a more complex situation in economic terms.

2. No additional documentation is required to apply, just complete the commitment document.
