Citgo auction adds oil refinery that offered $8 billion as a bidder

The executive president of Citgo, Carlos Jordá, asserted that in the last quarter, the Venezuelan refinery in the US maximized the capture of the market’s refining margins in an environment of declining margins and below the two previous quarters, “thanks to solid operational reliability»


The Citgo refinery, located in the US, reported a slight improvement in crude oil production in the last quarter, going from 678,000 barrels per day (b/d) in the second quarter to 774,000 in the third.

Citgo gave the information in a press release published on its website. According to data provided by the Venezuelan refinery located in the United States, the growth in crude oil production represented an increase of 14.5% in the last quarter, compared to the previous one.

«Crude and input processing capacity increased to 811,000 bpd, of which crude oil processing was 774,000 bpd with an average crude oil processing yield of 96%. These results were superior when compared to those obtained in the second quarter where the crude oil and input processing capacity was 720,000 bpd due to scheduled plant shutdown and maintenance activities, of which crude oil processing was 678,000 bpd with an average crude oil processing performance of 84%,” the company indicated in the bulletin.

Citgo CEO Carlos Jordá highlighted the fact that having completed most of their maintenance activities scheduled for this year, they maximized the capture of market refining margins in an environment of declining and below margins. to the previous two quarters, “thanks to solid operational reliability.”

“We achieved 96% performance in our crude processing capacity, and set several production records during the third quarter, while safely adjusting operations in response to an active hurricane season,” he commented.

In the press release, Citgo noted that the Lake Charles refinery achieved an average crude oil processing throughput of 98%, achieving monthly crude oil processing records that contributed to “the refinery’s third best quarter for crude oil processing.”

Regarding the Lemont refinery, it reported that it achieved an average crude processing throughput of 98% and completed the third quarter without recordable events or process safety events.

He added that supply, marketing and TPL achieved good results in this quarter. He highlighted that the total volume of product sales was 428,000 bpd, slightly higher than that recorded in the second quarter, with 73 new points of sale with the CITGO brand and a new monthly record for unbranded sales.

«The recently inaugurated product filling facility in East Chicago achieved record performance in handling volumes, a monthly pumping record was also established on the Sour Lake pipeline. Our commercial activities continue to expand to new international markets, which includes, for the first time, sales of products in the markets of Japan and China,” he added.
